My radio documentary which covered some of John Boyle O’Reilly's life, The Cry of the Dreamer, was broadcast by LMFM in October 2014. The documentary was part funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. The programme was also broadcast on Radio Fremantle, Australia, on 6 December 2014.

Here, Noelle Bowe talks about O'Reilly's childhood and family life in Meath and Louth. In this segment, Quincy Lehr, Associate Professor of History at St. Joseph's College, Brooklyn, discusses Irish-American attitudes to African-Americans during the nineteenth century. Another section from the documentary describes how O'Reilly, having escaped from Western Australia, sails by the coast of Ireland for the last time. The narration is by Ian Kenneally, while the part of John Boyle O'Reilly is voiced by the actor Fergus McDonagh. In this final segment, we discuss the memorial service held for O'Reilly in Boston in September 1890.
